Queens is for

all of us

THE FED UP COALITION:

Started in Flushing in 2019, FED UP (Flushing for Equitable Development and Urban Planning) is a grassroots coalition that builds community power with those most affected by the impacts of local large-scale luxury developments. We envision a Queens that is accessible, affordable, equitable, and healthy—a Queens where residents, workers, small businesses, and ecologies can thrive.

the threat:

For decades, city and state policies have enabled private developers to transform Flushing into a playground for the rich. Now, local elected officials and developers are looking to reshape over 140 acres of land across the Flushing Creek waterfront, which will raise rents and the cost of living for all nearby communities, including Flushing, Corona, and East Elmhurst. Started by Flushing-based organizations, FED UP is ringing the alarm bell for how unbridled luxury development impacts our most marginalized communities.

FLUSHING WATERWAYS DEVELOPMENT Interactive MAP

The Flushing Waterways Interactive Map illustrates the scale of the 140-acre redevelopment site and its context within Flushing Waterways' sea level rise predictions. Situated in the middle of environmental justice communities—Flushing, Corona, and East Elmhurst—the proposed projects threaten the social, ecological, and economic health of our neighborhoods. Our Priority Campaign:

citi field casino

NO Citi field casino

Citi Field Stadium lies directly south of Flushing Bay. Next to the stadium is 50 acres of parkland owned by NYC Parks and leased to the Mets. The billionaire owner of the Mets, Steven Cohen, seeks to build a casino at the site and sees the nearby Chinese community as its consumer base. We will not let a predatory casino harm our community!

demands for our local city and state officials:

1. Do not introduce parkland alienation.

2. Publicly OPPOSE a casino in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

3. SUPPORT the Phoenix Meadows VISION to restore a park for all to enjoy.
